For me, Jacob Collier remains one of the most important voices in music today. Beyond being a virtuoso player of many instruments, his understanding of how music and harmony work are incredible. What’s more, is that Jacob is an incredible collaborator and draws music out of others. Check out this version of Little Blue shot for Mahogany Sessions. So beautiful.

A few times a year, I come across an album which I feel really has a style of its own or tells a story in a really compelling way. Right now, that’s The Flood by Ben Caplan. Ben, hailing from Halifax, Nova Scotia, has a swampy style which contains echos of Tom Waits and yet is something which stands on its own. I enjoyed the album from end to end. Give it a listen!
